This is our competition-focused program, so some strikign experience is recommended. Â If you’re brand new to kickboxing, check out our beginner kickboxing class first, then step up when you’re ready.
K-1 Style takes some influence from Muay Thai, however the ruleset prohibits some strategies and techniques from Muay Thai to ensure a faster paced fight with less stalling. Â K-1 style has a heavier focus on Boxing, angles and footwork; and less emphasis on clinch fighting and does not permit elbows.
You’ll need 16oz boxing gloves, hand wraps, shin guards, and a mouth guard. Â A athletic cup is recommended, and head gear is optional. Â We have these things available in our pro shop, but we can help you source some online as well if you would like.
No, but this class is built around competition training. Â The intensity and focus reflects that. Â If competition is on the horizon, this is your room.
The beginner class focuses on fundamentals and fitness. Â This class is for athletes, aspiring athletes, or students who want to compete or just train at a higher level. Â Different pace, different intensity, different goals.
